1 Minute Motivator: A good ol’ belly laugh

“Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry alone.”

Why? Laughing has well documented health benefits. It lowers blood pressure, increases self esteem, combats stress. It has even been shown to help the body fight cancer.

What? Laugh

How? If you have children around, this is an easy one. Goof around, sing a silly song, play puppets with just your hand and a silly voice. Children love to laugh and it’s infectious.

If you’re alone, you might need to find some help. Watch your favourite comedy, read a book that makes you laugh. Have a competition with yourself to find the daftest knock knock joke.

Everyone’s funny bone is different but a quick search on You Tube should set you in the right direction. You might even like to see our top three funnies.

If all else fails and you can’t laugh, fake it! Pretend laughter has all the same health benefits and before you know it, could develop into the genuine article.

Laughing is fun. Writing things to make other people laugh is even more fun (or so I’ve found) ;)

I agree Heather. I love to make people smile and laugh both with my writing and in person. I find it impossible to plan how to be funny though. I just have to write and allow it to be an extension of who I am ;)

When I’m Trying to be funny I fail, but if I find something funny and talk about it it seems to work. ;) Course my boyfriend is just good at being funny/random period.

I agree. It’s always easier to just be :) And I’ve found that the sense of humour can vary with continents. That fascinates me.

Yep, it’s one of the more interesting things about it :) Always interesting meeting people in different parts of the globe for that reason; we all look at things differently.

      Thank you Lee,
You know anyone can laugh so much they cry, it’s about outlook I guess. It helps if you have a daft sense of humour too ;) My husband complains because the corny lines in the adverts on telly always make me titter. It drives him mad!

Glad to help you relive some lovely memories too :)

I was half expecting to see Dr Egg’s never ending stream of jokes…!

Is he saving them up for Easter? I’m sure they will be eggciting!
