“Why did the banana visit the doctor?”
“Because he wasn’t peeling very well!”
All fruit jokes aside, today’s one minute motivator is super quick and should help keep your good habits under control, especially if it’s your January diet that needs resolving. Whilst the World Health Organisation’s ’5 a day’ recommendation is pretty standard news these days, did you know that studies have been undertaken to see just why that old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” is so popular?
According to various pieces of information, benefits of apples include protection from cancers, lung disease, heart disease, brain disease and strokes. They are also said to aid weight loss. However, comparable findings have been extracted from experiments with other fruit and vegetables too. As expected, these other fruits and vegetables were also found to have important health implications.
Your quick motivation tip for today is to enjoy some fruit or vegetables as a snack or with a main meal. Whilst fresh produce is better for your health, eating some fruit (albeit tinned, for example) is better than none. Be inventive. Maybe you could try something completely new to you and your family?
In case you’re wondering where the motivation is in a modest apple, today’s tip is about developing good habits. What you have for your breakfast is largely irrelevant but by having some fruit you’re showing your body who’s boss and getting some brilliant vitamins and minerals inside yourself too.
If you’re a veggie virgin then take it one new vegetable at a time. Try some of your old favorites raw. You’d be surprised how cooking can change the flavour of foods.
Don’t forget to come back here later and tell us how it went.
Over to you. What do you think?

It is amazing how difficult it is to do a small think for your health. A break from work to stretch or do some pushups for example. Or eating something healthy like an apple.

You’re quite right, we do seem to make hard work of the little things don’t we? That’s why I started these quick 1 minute motivators. They’re quick to read and quick to implement but could make all the difference to starting the day off on the right track.
Just wait until you see what we have for tomorrow
