Following on from yesterday’s popular look at Abraham Lincoln and the reference to Edison’s quote “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” I was astounded to discover that Thomas Edison was labelled dumb in school before being thrown out at the age of 12
However, further investigation revealed that Edison had dyslexia. Despite this, he was an avid reader and contributed many writings to the scientific journals of his day. If you have more than a minute today, I would encourage you to read this summery of some other famous folks with dyslexia who persevered and triumphed, despite the odds against them doing so. It comes from DyslexiaOnline.com and is inspiring for anyone, regardless of whether they have dyslexia or not. If they can do it, we can too. Are you still here? Go do it already

Eleanor,
Thank you for bringing this list to people’s attention. I studied a dyslexia course a few years ago, to help me support adults with the condition. I found the course very enlightening because it contain great pieces of info like you have shared here. It was also very interesting to discover the full extent of the condition and the strategies available to help them.
Regards
Paul
