1 Minute Motivator: Get up, brush down, move on

“It’s one of the many challenges life throws at us. Getting up, brushing down and moving on – a great way to deal with it” – Paul Worswick

Do you ever have days when you just feel totally fed up for no apparent reason? What do you do? Get ready for the challenges that tomorrow brings.

Why?

Sometimes things can feel pretty weird and yucky. When this happens for no reason that you identify, it makes it all the more difficult. Today’s one minute motivator is fairly autobiographical and inspired by a tweet from Paul in response to my complaints. Sometimes, just acknowledging a difficult day can be enough to turn it around. It certainly helps to know that you’re not alone :)

What?

When you’re having a day today, recognise that it is just one step in your journey. Take the next step, and the next and the next. Before you realise it, you’ll be through the yucky stuff and back, flying high.

How?

How you do this really depends on just how tough a day you’re having. Take it hour by hour if you must. Focus on getting through that hour only. Where possible, find someone to talk to. A tough day always feels much more unpleasant if you’re facing it alone. Remind yourself that this is only a passing phase. Tomorrow is a brand new day :)

    Hi Eleanor,

I had a day like that last Wednesday. For no apparent reason, I was just fed up with everything. My emotions were all over the map. I think it has to do with hormones or something because after a good cry, I felt better :-)

So, that is to say, maybe a good cry will be able to release the frustrations and bad emotions and start the healing process.

I agree that sometimes you just have to live moment by moment and have the belief that things will get better tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then the day after.

Thanks for sharing this Karen. Glad you’re feeling better now :) Being a girl is hard going sometimes isn’t it? Although, with the daily shaving and non-communication, I’d rather not be a guy ;)

I have had many bad days…but since my life is turning around now, i realized those bad days may come and go, and yes I believe you have to just go with the flow of emotions and move on. Great post

Thank you for your kind words :) I’m glad it meant something to you. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this life is a journey and there will be valleys and mountains. Both are beautiful in very different ways but we have to remember that it is only a phase.
