1 Minute Motivator: Grab a fork

by Eleanor

Following on from yesterday when we selected the elephant we were going to eat, today we’re thinking about forks. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time of course. But we’re not going to be using our fingers, hence the forks ;)

So you’ve got your dream in your sights. You defined it yesterday. By now it should be so tangible you can almost touch it. Go back to your note taking device, turn over the page and now make a list of the things you need to do to realise your dream. If you’re dreaming really big (and I hope you are :) ) you might need to break your list down even further. You’ll know you’re done when you have several things that you can start right away.

Grab your diary and set a time with yourself today to to those final things on your list. Promise yourself you will do it and then, do it!

Think of these final steps as your to-do list for today. It’s recommended you have no more than three items on this list. When you’ve done those three things, go back to your master list and select three more for tomorrow. Rinse and repeat until one day, you’ll wake up and your dream will have become a reality.

Speaking of dreams, did you know that thinking about eating elephants is how Give A Brick was born? If you’ve found this motivator helpful, feel free to help us get one bite closer to realising our dream and Give A Brick. It’ll only cost a quid ;) Thank you :)

Eleanor,

As with anything in life to achieve the success your are seeking you need to select the right tools. As with eating the elephant, using your fingers would take you longer then using a fork. Hence less time eating and more time for other things in your life.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Eleanor
I thought that I was the list king but you probably beat me.
My wife laughs at me for using a list but I think that rather than making you keep thinking about what you’ve got to do… it allows you to relax.

BTW I read somewhere that a measure of your IQ is how many items you can remember when you go round the supermarket… without a list. LOL

My mum could beat us both hands down. She has lists of her lists!

And based on that IQ theory, I’m not looking too hot. Let’s pretend it’s not true. I won’t tell anyone ;)

I think this is sound advice. One of my best friends stopped checking emails until she had completed an order. She couldn’t believe it she’d produced twice as much as normal.

Sometimes really simple things get the biggest results.

Thanks for the link back!
