1 Minute Motivator: Shake Your Bootie

Image for 1 minute motivator:count your blessings

With the weekend upon us, is your body groaning? A side-effect of getting out of bed just a little later than normal, there’s a better than average chance that you’re feeling a little bit sluggish. Your usually agile mind is struggling to tell your brain to put the kettle on fast enough and your legs feel like lead?

If so, today’s one minute motivator has the perfect remedy for you. Welcome :)

Today I want you to take a minute or so to move. If internally you’re already grumbling at the prospect of some health freak telling you to “Get Down and Gimme Ten!” relax :) This is not meant to hurt and might even be fun ;)

Find your favourite source of music and get it going. If you usually prefer to listen to ballads or something even more sedate, I’d encourage you to find something with a bit more energy. Something with a good strong beat is preferred but anything will do really.

OK, got your music on? Fab! Now start to move. I don’t care if you think you have less rhythm than a double decker bus, just let yourself go and bop around a bit. If you have children around, all the better. They love this! With children around you’ll be giggling within the minute, I guarantee it ;)

There, now doesn’t that feel better :D

Over to you. What do you think?

It’s just another one of the ways you can Give A Brick and then tell your friends

Eleanor, you know I would love to try this out but I’ve got this little back problem that I’ve been struggling with since last Monday.

Sounds like a good idea though, and as soon as my back is better I’ll start rcokin’ to some great Elvis songs.

      Hi Sire,
Thank for stopping by :) Sorry to hear about your back, sounds painful. You a big Elvis fan then? Had you down as more of a Pink Floyd man myself. Just goes to show that looks can be deceptive ;)

Yep Elvis is King. I do link Pink though, she’s pretty hot. I like most of the oldies like the Beetles, Creedence, Suzi Quatro, Bee Gees etc.

That’s quite an eclectic mix. I’ll listen to just about anything with the exception of rap (all those mean and nasty words) and really hard core stuff (if that’s the right term for it?!) I like to be able to hear the words ;)

I don’t get much of a look in really though as my other half usually decides what to listen to when he’s cooking. I tend to sing in my head instead.

Seeing as how he’s cooking it’s probably best to let him listen to something he likes.

There’s not much rap that I like, when the kids put it on I always refer to it as rap crap, much to their disgust. It’s only another phase, I don’t see it lasting like some of the real classics.

I loved this! “Dance like no one’s looking”, right? It’s amazing how much more energized we feel when we just start to move our bodies. I’ve been sitting in front of the computer for hours, but I think I will do as you suggest and “Shake My Bootie” :-)

Awesome! I hope that by the time I’m writing this, you’ve done just that :D

The funny thing was, writing that post, I was feeling sluggish and drowsy and hungover from too much sleep. The inspiration therefore came from very close to home ;)

But my children are my inspiration for dancing like no-ones looking. They love to dance goofy.

I think there is something to be said for doing any kind of action – of moving your body that gets the blood flowing and feeling more energized. When I sit too long at the computer, it drains me. If I go for a short walk, I find that I get energized and am not so tired anymore.

        Great advice to follow.

One of my favorite guaranteed to get you going songs is a one hit wonder titled “Walkin’ on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. You definitely can’t sit still through that one.

Thanks for helping get going this morning.
