1 Minute Motivator: Stop

Remembering to feel thankful for my blessings, I was enjoying a few moments peace while my lovely husband cooked dinner. An advert for 80s classic Ferris Bueller came on the telly with the classic line:

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

This in turn reminded me of a thought provoking post I read at the end of January. If you’ve got longer than a minute today, I certainly recommend you read it. It’s timeless ;)

But in essence, take time today to stop, look around and enjoy the view. Life’s too short to waste it rushing everywhere. If you haven’t got to get there fast, don’t!

If you’ve ever gone for a walk with a toddler you’ll know exactly what life should look like. They don’t care that you’ve been walking this short path for the last 25 minutes. They’d prefer to investigate every leaf, stone and stick. If they spot a caterpillar, they’re over the moon and if you’re relatively rushed, I suggest you don’t even mention that pretty little blackbird singing in the tree ;)

Not everything in life can be fun but personally, I prefer to find the fun in as much of life as I possibly can :)

    Eleanor,

Great post, I have twin four year old grandaughters who are absolutely estatic about the moon every time they see it. Such innocence!

    Regards

I agree. For me, one of the greatest side effects of having children was learning to slow down and appreciate the simple stuff again. The look of wonder on a child’s face as he investigates a flower or a rain drop is brilliant.

Ah! I love that line from Ferris Buelar. I totally forgot about it but always thought it was a wicked cool quote. Anyway, I know whatchu mean about kids. I get jealous of my little nephew and how amazing every little thing in life is for him. I wish I could still be so easily amused and fascinated with life again.. *sigh*

Hi :) Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I personally believe you can practice letting your inner child out to play. You should give it a try some time. It’s great fun ;)

Hey Eleanor, thanks for the link. It’s a valuable point and one that we all need to step back and think about every once in a while.

There is a life beyond this computer, and sometimes you have to shutdown and just enjoy it!

Obviously agree ;) The original post was a great one and seeing as it was literally the first thing I thought of when the film4 ad came on, I thought I had to give credit where credit were due ;)
