With just a couple more days left of this month we call January, now seems as right a time as any to be thinking about what you were doing 29 days ago. Like so many people, did you make promises to yourself about things that you would be sure to do over the coming year? Perhaps your resolution was not to make resolutions?!
Love them or hate them, January is traditionally a time for reflection and self-awareness. However, some estimates suggest that a third of all resolutions are dismissed before we even say goodbye to January.
Today therefore we’re going to forget about special days for making promises and focus on the truth that life can change in a second and there is always the next second to begin again. Such a truth puts pay to last night of freedom binges on chocolate cake before starting a strict diet. It also puts pay to the mental beating we can give ourselves when we don’t match up to our own ridiculously high expectations.
“Life can change in a second and there’s always the next second to begin again.”

I did alright. A cold got in my way, and the months goals were contingent on client work anyway. But overall I’m satisfied.

This may sound selfish but one thing I have decided to do this year is to treat myself once in a while. I usually decide that I don’t deserve it. Today I saw that the remote HD broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera will be showing in a theater nearby. I’m going to treat myself.
