1 Minute Motivator: The power of one

by Eleanor

Fairtrade Fortnight finished yesterday and for the duration, schools across the country have been doing their bit to highlight the benefits of enjoying Fairtrade produce.

Starting them young seems to be an excellent idea, especially if a comment from my five year old is indicative of the general state of awareness. Asking me to cut her up a banana, she requested that I try to find her a fairtrade one :)

This got me thinking about why the thinkers behind Fairtrade do what they do. Having visited this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight page, I was excited and inspired to see The Big Swap visual. They are seeking 1,000,000 swaps, one swap at a time. Sound familiar? ;)

We need just another 69,878 people to Give A Brick (£1) so that project one can be finished. Give A Brick treasurer Dr Egg posed for a short video yesterday to introduce you to our first project. You’ll also see how 20,000 bricks have been spent so far on the first phase of the project.

Today’s 1 Minute Motivator is therefore a little bit different as we ask you to help us prove the power of one and Give A Brick (just £1) and then ask your friends to do the same.

Then think about your own dreams and passions. What one thing can you do today to make your dream just a little bit more of a reality?

It’s been far too long since I was last here and I like how your site is coming together even more.

My one thing as crazy as it might sound would be to just believe enough to figure out a few more steps I can take to make my dreams reality. This is powerful enough that I think it could save a lot of our dreams if we let it.

What do you think?

Eric, Eleanor really is bringing it all together!

Eleanor, we never seem to be on twitter at the same time. Curious.

Aww, thanks Dave. That’s such a nice thing to say :)

As for Twitter, I suspect time zones are a part of the problem. I set a few scheduled posts to go throughout the day so that I’m ‘around’ even when I’m not really but these last couple of weeks have been busy (you know what that’s like ;) ) so I’ve been on a bit less.
