Whilst it’s been wildly acclaimed, I must confess that I found much of ‘In Pursuit of Happyness’ (sic) hard work. That said, it has some great messages, probably because it’s based on the true life of Chris Gardner
Today’s 1 minute motivator brings you a short clip from the film and yes, it’s less than one minute long
In case you are completely stuck for time, here’s the summary:
“You want something. Go get it. Period. Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something. Not even me.”
If you can spare another 50 seconds, the clip below is much more inspiring

Eleanor,
That is one of my favourite inspirational films; made all the more worthwhile by Will Smith taking lead role.
Thank you for taking the time to share this.

Paul

Hi Paul,
Glad you liked it. I’ll be honest and say that it was too slow overll for my liking but it was some excellent scenes worthy of repeating in their own right.
Out of interest, what’s your take on video clips on blogs? Until seeing Nick’s video yesterday I wasn’t keen but there’s so much great stuff out there, I’m considering adding an extra post daily and making it a video clip. What do you think?

Eleanor,
I think video clips on blogs are a good idea as an alternative. I wouldn’t like to see them replace a written blog. I feel they get a message over in an alternative way to people with different reading styles.
The extra post as a video clip sounds like a great idea.
Regards
Paul

Am loving the 1 Minute Motivators, Eleanor, particularly when you add such a inspirational video clip.
I really liked the movie, but the book is so much better. Chris Gardner is a true inspiration to us all.
“You want something. Go get it. Period. Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something. Not even me.” –> fantastic advice and so true!

Thanks for your encouragement Karen. Are inspirational video clips something you’d like to see more of on here?
I haven’t come across Chris Gardner’s book. I’ll have to check out my local library

The movie was based on the book, so you should definitely check it out.

It is one of my favourite films of all time especially with it being a true story. A true testament to show that whatever you want to achieve, you can do it no matter what gets in your way

Hi Neil,
I’m really glad you appreciated it. These video clips are proving popular. I guess I’d better go register Give A Brick for a non-profit YouTube account

Yep, better register it and then so long as your number one son doesn’t throw up on you next week, we can do some movies of the project!
