Give A Brick is the charitable arm of Cross Hands Christian Centre (CHCC), and started life as a fund raising idea. Part of CHCC’s vision for the future is to make a positive impact on the local community. Having asked our neighbours what they need, plans are afoot to accommodate parent and toddler groups, lunchtime clubs for the elderly, a job club and youth clubs.
However, with one outside toilet which is approached via a path which becomes slippery when wet and youth work currently being held in an elderly portacabin we have problems! Thankfully, planning permission for new toilets (including disabled facilities) and four classrooms has been granted by the Local Authority.
The idea of Give A Brick came about when we considered that instead of worrying about where we were going to find tens of thousands of pounds, all we need do was ask tens of thousands of people to give one pound.
Having raised the profile of GiveABrick and received the funds we need to serve our own community, what would be the value of shutting the website down and telling you we don’t want any more bricks?
The day we realised that we could go on to support and encourage the building of people, communities and further facilities was the day that Give A Brick became a charity.
Our extended vision is for individuals and groups who, because of their age or circumstances, can not always have the best quality of life. We are interested in their stories. As a charity linked to Cross Hands Christian Centre , we are keen to reach out to people as an expression of the unconditional love of Christ and empower other Christian organisations to do the same.

I think I’ve managed to steer myself through the technology fog ….
Well done in making the journey possible
