Another hat

I’ve had my ‘other’ hat on today as I investigate properly (sorry mum, yes, I should have done this properly months ago  ) other possible sources of funding for our first project. (By ‘other’, I mean other than asking everyone to Give A Brick ;) )

And having looked into it properly, the news isn’t so good. Almost all of the wonderful organisations who offer funding for projects like ours will only do so once we have exhausted all other sources and have the majority of the money in place. If all suggest the rest of the funds should be in place first and, other than Give A Brick, they are our source of funds, where does that leave us?

I’m still waiting to hear from the schemes organised by the Welsh assembly but other than them, we’re looking at one of two options …

(1) The Big Lottery Fund and/or

(2) Give A Brick ;)

The former leads me to face something of an ethical dilemma. Should the community centre @ Cross Hands Christian Centre seek funding from an organisation who are funded by gambling? Don’t get me wrong, I understand they support lots of very good causes but it just feels wrong for us, a Christian organisation, to go down that route. What do you think? Am I being naive?

And if the final answer is Give A Brick, what can I do to ask you to give A brick, i.e. just 1 ;) and then ask your friends to do the same?

I look forward to hearing what you think.

Love El x
