#CharityTuesday: The Big Audio Challenge

Welcome to Charity Tuesday. Have we got a treat for you today? Oh yes :) In truth, the real treat comes next week. Today I’m just going to tease you a little by telling you about it ;) Did you read our Sunday Surprise courtesy of Heather Craik? If not, you really need to read that first. It’s brilliant and you’ll understand how the challenge evolved once you’ve read it.

OK, so you’re back. Did you enjoy it? I knew you would :)

After I’d read it I immediately thought how brilliant it would be as an audio post. Having watched her 3D tutorials, I’d already heard Heather’s gorgeous Scottish lilt. It’s really lovely :) So I suggested the audio post and she came back with a more interesting idea:

“I had a fun idea that, unless you object, I’m going to incorporate. I have a list of mythical creatures – A to Z. While I’m telling the story I’m going to try and fit them all in, in order; as a challenge. We could engage the readers to listen out in case I miss any, and if I don’t, you could lay a wager with them that they have to give a brick, or go comment on my blog, or something small like that. Upshot being that if I do miss one I have to donate ten. I’ll only record the audio once, in the morning,”

And so The Big Audio Challenge was born :) I’ve set up a special Paypal button below that is linked to The Big Audio Challenge. If you’d like to support Heather in this endeavour and Give A Brick, both she and I will be very grateful.

And if you’d like to see Heather’s A to Z, a printable version is available but you can also read the list here:

  • Ampithere (type of small feathered dragon)
  • Basalisk
  • Cerberus
  • Doppleganger
  • Ettin (three headed giant)
  • Faun
  • Gremlin
  • Harpy
  • Imp
  • Jiang Shi (life-draining reanimated corpse china)
  • Kapre (malevolent tree spirit philippines)
  • La Sayona (venezuela female ghost that punishes unfaithful husbands)
  • Munchkin
  • Nymph
  • Ouroboros (serpent eating its tail)
  • Pixie
  • Quinotaur (Frankish five horned bull)
  • Rakshasa
  • Succubus
  • Troll
  • Unicorn
  • Vampire
  • Wampus cat (Cherokee human-cougar hybrid)
  • Xenu
  • Yeti
  • Ziz (Jewish giant bird)

Between now and next Wednesday morning when she records The Big Audio Challenge, I’d like to rally as much support as possible. Therefore, please RT, Stumble, Digg. Facebook and Email this post as much as you can. And remember to put next Wednesday April 14th in your diary. Thanks :)

lol I’ve been a little slow out of the blocks today. Had to get to an eye appointment with all three children by half nine this morning so it’s only now (several hours later!) that I’m even getting this to Twitter etc. I also need to go back and add links to your blog, RSS feed etc. Not fun playing catch up but better late than never ;)

Lol its ok, for some reason I managed to stay up until nearly 2am (working on 3D, gave up for the night when I couldn’t get my textures working. Had a new idea actually…), got woken again at 4am, was up until 8am, and now I’m only just awake again. Little tired for this blogging lark ;)

I still say we should consider making it a video; then I could put images of the creatures on it as I say them.
