If you’re a UK tax payer, why not give us an extra few pence rather than share it with the tax man?
Gift Aid works by us taking your donation (which is money you have already paid tax on) and reclaiming tax on its ‘gross’ equivalent (its value before tax was deducted) at the basic rate of 20 per cent. This means that every brick you give via Gift Aid is worth £1.28. This is because 20 per cent of £1.25 is 25 pence – your £1 being the difference.
£1.25? I said £1.28 didn’t I? Where did the extra 3p come from? Until April 5th 2011, HMRC will give us the extra 3p. This is known as a ‘transitional relief’ to allow time to adjust to the lowering of the basic tax rate from 22% to 20%.
You can use Gift Aid if the amount of tax you have paid in a tax year is at least equal to the amount we reclaim.
If you do not pay tax, you should not use Gift Aid.
To make your donation using Gift Aid, please download our Gift Aid Form and send it to us with your donation. There is space on the form for several people to give via Gift Aid.
Why not tell your friends about us and ask them to Give A Brick with Gift Aid too?
If you Give A Brick online, please follow the instructions to include Gift Aid.
Thanks x

[...] A Brick bank account. If I did enough paid work to pay tax I could do it online and earn a little gift aid [...]
[...] The great news is that Just Giving is set up such that when someone Gives A Brick via Paypal (currently the top donation method here on GiveABrick.com) we only lose 2p on every pound donated and (and this is a biggie) we get Gift Aid. With our own Paypal efforts we lose 22p and we can’t easily claim gift aid. (What is Gift Aid? Read about it here.) [...]
