Hi Dave,
Thanks for stopping by and for explaining about the gravatar. As you can see, Dr Egg got his sorted last night (although I did get a whispered phone call at an unsociable hour so he could check the difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com ;))

So we have two-nil in favour of blessing technology. Unanimous so far then ;) I'm just delighted to see the church moving with the times and trying to be relevant. Very encouraging.

I'm with Dr Egg.

The world at large could use more blessings.

Gravatars work by querying a central database (gravatar.com) with your email address, then uploading the photo from that database to display wherever. Brilliant concept. About an afternoon's programming work to prototype. Wish I'd thought of it. :)

Very eloquently put doc ;) So if Jesus was around today, do you think he'd do Twitter? I wonder what his user name would be?

Speaking of technology, to get your photo showing up, you need to go to www.gravatar.com I don't understand why but ever since I registered there and uploaded my profile pic, it works all over the place. Do you have your mini-photo on your machine or do I need to email it to you?

No contest in my mind. I'm sure it's not the blessing of the tools that matters. If it wasn't relevant to the ploughs, it would equally not be relevant to the new technology alternatives. But in blessing the ploughs, what the church was doing was recognising the importance of work to the individual and that is as relevant today as it was then. Tools can be used for good or ill in the hands of those who use them. So in blessing the mobile 'phones and computers, what they were really doing was acknowledging and blessing the person who uses them and asking that they use them for good.
