“Dreams are wonderful but they’re not enough” ~ Jim Rohn

A wiser man than me once said “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

But what happened after Martin Luther King gave this speech? What if everyone who listened on that day walked away and never followed through? In retrospect, the power of that speech wasn’t just about the words King used but in the galvenising of a people who went out and took action to make it real.

Dreams are truly amazing things that some people never have or that they hide away because they don’t want others around them to feel insecure. In the words of Marianne Williamson

“There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Jim Rohn said, “dreams are wonderful but they’re not enough”. If you want to live the life you want to have, manifest the things you want to happen for you and your loved one; you have to follow through. There’s no winning without running the race. There’s no point in being on the starting line and wishing a victory to happen.

The problem is we’re conditioned into believing that we need to live a prescribed life and that it needs to not involve our dreams and ambitions. I’m here to tell you that that’s garbage. You were born to live the life you want to lead and fulfil the dreams you want to have for you and your loved ones.

But you can’t just hope they happen. You need to truly decide on what you want and go full tilt at it until you get where you want to be. You need your dream to galvenise you into action so that the fear of failure and rejection isn’t sometime that affects you. Go after your dreams and create your own legacy.

I learnt a great lesson once from a great man. He said if you want motivation to chase the dreams you’ve been having then imagine what people say at your funeral when you’re gone. What do you want to happen when you slip of this earth? For a few to turn up and say some nice words or would you rather lots of people came to speak so fondly and passionately about you that you’re legacy lives on in them for years to come.

Go chase your dream and make it happen.

Personally, I’m going for the legacy option. Figure if I miss the mark slightly, will still be fabulous ;) Great post Ben. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.

Thank you for letting me share it El!

Better to aim for the stars – that way if you miss you’ll still up in the heavens

    Cheers Ben :)

I’m one of those people that has no real problem thinking big, or with acting on it. The issue here is when it comes to the day to day things that are only distantly related to what you want to achieve; those get to me. ;)

I think they get to all of us Heather.

It’s then a case of consistently going back to what you want to achieve and working towards it.

In one of his lessons in “The Heart of Success”, the professor advises his student that every dreamer needs a dream catcher – someone who they can discuss their dreams with, someone who will give them sound advice and help them find the right path to their dreams. Find your dream catcher, Heather and together you will make those dreams a reality.

Excellent quote Dr… I suppose you could say I’ve already found my dream catcher – I’m still learning to discuss it all with him properly though. We’ll get there =)

Also thanks for the pointers Ben!

Dream catchers are definitely needed if you’re going to produce amazing results
