It’s been an exciting week and as you’re reading this I may already be on my way to Cardiff to see our lovely Dr Egg have his hair shaved off. We also had a phone call from the building company Redrow offering to help us out with materials for our first project (that’s a whole other blog post that you can look forward to)
However, right now I’d like to introduce you to a lovely lady and massive Give A Brick supporter, Maria Muir from MariaMuir.com.
What’s your name and where do you come from? (Tell us about you!) I’m Maria Muir and I live in Glasgow (Scotland) I have four kids, 2 daughters, 2 sons and I am extremely proud of them. I am a qualified Social Care Worker and Counsellor, I advocate and raise awareness for child sex abuse victims.
Why Give A Brick? I think it was the whole friendly approach really and it felt so laid back and comfortable. Another reason is because GAB puts back into the community and when you make a donation at least you know what that donation is being used for and not going towards administration cost. Also, I can never say no to Eleanor, I try and help in whatever way I can
What are your dreams and ambitions? To finally finish my book and have it published. It has taken me several attempts to write about my life, which hasn’t been a bed of roses and it has been an emotional roller coaster trying to put the words on paper.
If you could be granted any one wish right now, what would it be? To save as many children as possible from neglect and abuse.
Who would be your ideal dinner guest? Viggo Mortensen from Lord of the Rings.
What would be on the menu? I can think of a few things but will keep it clean
Any kind of chicken dish followed by mandarin cheescake.
One thing that might surprise people about you? I am a sexual abuse survivor.
Anything I’ve missed that you’d like people to know? I play a mean game of pool and was considering turning pro several years ago until cupid decided to fire an arrow in my direction.
And finally, our quick fire round:
Tea or coffee? Tea
Favourite colour? Lilac
Favourite season? Spring
Chocolate, cake or ice cream? Definitely chocolate ![]()
Favourite holiday destination? I don’t go abroad often but when I do I prefer to explore rather than sit in the sun. I have been to Paris which I loved, also Rome which was way to hot for me. I do a lot of sight seeing around Scotland and last year decided to travel down to the Lake District which is stunning.
Favourite musician/artist? Bryan Adams, Awesome
Favourite breakfast? Scrambled eggs on toast
So that’s our Maria but what did I miss out? Now is your chance to ask her that burning question you’ve always wanted to ask her. Many thanks must go to Maria for taking the time to answer my questions
Have a wonderful Friday

It’s funny actually, reading through this we’ve way more in common than I thought we did. Great interview Maria! Also I forgot you were in Glasgow lol (I’ll be over there for a day or so in the middle of June before I fly out to Canada), may have to come say hi at some point.
