South Wales charity announce shocking new tactic:
Please only give one
pound then have some fun!
This Christmas season, South Wales based charity Give A Brick have taken the unique approach of
asking people to only give £1.
Whilst the high street is celebrating the pre-Christmas boom and the
average child's list to Santa is
getting longer and longer, plans for
National Giving Week 2007 were scrapped in favour of
campaigns
which genuinely add value to the sector 1 . Are we really a town that has gone off giving and
if so,
where does that leave the hundreds of thousands of
charities in the UK alone?
In what they hope will prove to be a popular approach, Give A Brick have
chosen to reject the standard
fund raising letter and want us all to have
more fun! Their cartoon spokeswoman, known as 'The Blue
Princess'
explains:
“We want to put the sparkle back into life, relieve the drudgery and make
people smile. Instead of
images of misery and neglect, our website celebrates
the fun things in life and actively encourages
everyone to
participate.”
It seems that Give A Brick recognise how different 'fun' can be for
everyone with 'fun' ranging from
recipes for cooking with children to book
reviews and the UK top 40 singles chart. But what is the cost
of all this fun? The Blue Princess
reinforces what Give A Brick say is their unique message:
“We really only want everyone to Give A Brick (just one!) and more
importantly, tell your friends
you've given a brick and ask them to do the
same: Give A Brick and tell your friends!
