What?! I meant change down the sofa of course! But having written than un-deliberate error, I decided to keep it because it made me giggle

It’s a drizzly wet Saturday morning and as much as my children love getting wet and muddy, I wasn’t feeling brave enough at 8am this morning to condone playing outside.

Instead, we decided to make good use of some massive cardboard boxes and have now built the biggest cardboard city my front room can accommodate. Three hours later and as I type, they’re all still sticking and drawing to decorate it. I wish I’d thought of this weeks ago because it’s swiftly escalating

Anyway, prior to starting the construction project, I decided to give the floor a quick tickle with our henry and I got a bit carried away and decided to venture into the uncharted territory that is our sofas. You can tell which ones the children sit on most (until today, I hadn’t appreciated how unenforced the ‘no food on the sofas’ rule was!) But mixed in with the soft popcorn (a remnant from Emily’s birthday sleepover in February!!) and dust, I found 43p in small change.

Given that the popcorn proves no-ones been down that sofa since at least February, I can safely conclude that the 43p has not been missed. So I decided that next time I’m in town, I’ll pop the 43p into the Give A Brick bank account. If I did enough paid work to pay tax I could do it online and earn a little gift aid too

Which then made me think about other people’s sofas. I had the thought that we could have a little competition and help raise some cash for a good cause at the same time

Given that this idea popped into my head about three hours ago, I’m not in a position yet to offer a grand prize (I had thought about asking some lovely people at one of the larger high street furniture outlets since it fitted the theme) but if you’d like to get involved, roll up your sleeves and start rummaging. If you find objects of worth amongst the coins and debris, feel free to sell them and donate that too, you can add this to your total find value
