Whilst it’s not part of our business plan, I like to think of Give A Brick as the people’s charity. Without lots of lovely, unique, individual people each giving just a single pound and then telling their friends we’d fail to exist. We work with passionate, dedicated people who are striving to make life better for other people. And finally, it’s you, a person (unless you’re a search engine bot of course but can bots read anyway?!) who has the opportunity to tell us what project we should support next. So yes, we’re absolutely, definitely about people.
Therefore, when people take the time to talk to us, we have got to listen. I sent a hurried plea across the world that is Twitter (incidentally, if you don’t Twitter yet, you should. It’s great for meeting new people and keeping in contact with friends alike) less than 48 hours ago. I’ve yet to find a better way to get feedback as swiftly
People spoke. They told us that to Give A Brick (£1) with a credit or debit card was too time consuming. Other people said that £1 was too small an amount to be worth risking identity theft by giving their details to a site they’d never heard of. (Charity Choice is very safe and secure but to be honest, I’d never heard of them either before working for Give A Brick.) A couple of people also made the very valid point that they have a balance in Paypal so they’d prefer to use that.
Therefore, I am pleased to unveil our brand new, shiny, all-singing, all-dancing Paypal button:
In the absence of a little curtain to open and a tinkle of polite applause, may I just say thank you for talking to us. And thank you in advance for using our new button
As an aside, if you’re doing a fund-raising event for us asking everyone to sponsor you a brick, it’s worth remembering our other giving options. For example, we’re registered with BMyCharityso if you want your own special page you can get one quickly and easily. I’m working on adding Paypal there too
In the meantime, thanks for stopping by. If this is your first visit, a warm welcome to you. Feel free to add a note at the bottom to say hello
We aim to write a mixture of charity related news and general light hearted entertaining pieces. If figure that if I can make you smile it might warm your heart and you’ll Give A Brick.
Finally, if you have something to share that would fit Give A Brick please get in touch. We’re always happy to share the writing space with others
