Teenage mutant turtle gives what he can

There was once a young turtle called Nathaniel. He was a sweet young hatchlet, the youngest of six. And one day, after hearing the call of the sea, he decided to leave his little corner of the estuary and head off to waters new.

Arriving in the choppy waters of Cardiff Bay, our young hero began to mix with other turtles. He learnt new skills, enjoyed playing games as he upped his fluid intake and generally learned what the wise old turtle chief meant when he described these days of learning as being the happiest of ones life.

But before too long, turtle thoughts turned to things outside of himself. He heard his sister rail on about the power of giving, legacy and making a difference. One morning, not long after Christmas, he made a descision.

He would save all his turtle coinage and donate it to a good cause.

Days turned to weeks turned to months. Nathaniel did not desist. Still he continued to collect all the teeny tiny coins that found their way into his turtle trouser pockets. Imagine his sister’s delight to hear of such a venture when he arrived back in the estuary at the end of his year in Cardiff.

What delighted and inspired his lovely sister the most (aside from the gorgeous example of one young student doing what he could to give) was that he’d done it all so quietly and humbly. Had it not been for daddy turtle, his sister would never have even known. No great fan fare or show off. No ‘look what I’ve been doing to help’ He just got on and did it.

Thanks Nathaniel, you’ve made me very proud to be your sister :) x

What an inspirational story! The power of giving and making a difference is huge. It’s really nice how he did it and didn’t show off or anything, you have a really nice writing style. Thanks for sharing this cool story.

Thanks Justin. I was really proud of him and reading this story to my mum, it made her cry. I really appreciate your kind words about the writing too. There are a lot of stories to be told around here. It’s something I’m working on as this site gets it’s revamp ahead of September.

      Great to meet you,
      El x
