Ever since we introduced the popular new structure to our daily one minute motivators, it’s been nagging at me a little that maybe our other posts could benefit from some organisation.
I love alliteration so having allowed my grey cells to chew over thoughts for the best part of a day, here’s what I’ve come up with by way of a plan:
Monday Movers
Whether this be motivating you to take action or moving you to tears with parenting talking, Monday will bring you a healthy dose of motivation.
Charity Tuesday
Every Tuesday is Charity Tuesday on Twitter. Given how much Give A Brick loves to tweet, Tuesday seems the natural day to write charity specific posts.
Warming Wednesday
When I was teaching full time, we referred to Wednesday as hump day. Once you got past the mental hump of a Wednesday, the weekend was in sight and all seemed better with the world.
Wednesdays at Give A Brick will bring something to make you smile and warm your heart. All these categories are being purposefully kept vague enough to allow for freedom. Warming Wednesday is no exception. It might be a short video or a fun story. We’ll work out the details as we go
Thoughtful Thursday
As the name suggests, we’ll be saving our thought provoking posts fora Thursday.
Friday Friends
Originally I had thought to make this Follow Friday to link up with the weekly Twitter event. However, this would seem rather limiting. What about our lovely fans on Facebook? Surely they deserve some love too?
So Fridays will be about celebrating our friends. It might be introducing a star fund raiser or a brilliant blog post one of our friends has shared with us.
Give A Brick asks everyone to Give A Brick and tell their friends so you can understand how greatly we value friendship. Fridays will celebrate that.
Saturday Smoothy
Every Saturday we’ll aim to bring you a concise round up of the week’s posts. There is a good chance we’ll include some of the fun stuff we’ve enjoyed elsewhere too. I love lazy Saturdays and the longer reading time involved in our Saturday posts reflects this.
Sunday Surprise
And finally, Sunday will give us the opportunity to surprise you. It might be something that fails to fit in any other category or just something that caught us unawares. Who knows? It’s a surprise
One Minute Motivators
This daily short series will continue in it’s current form. The only slight change I anticipate is that it will feature a short motivating quote by way of an introduction. We’ve already been doing this from time to time so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
As ever, if you’d like to write for Give A Brick, you’d be made very welcome. I’m hoping this new structure should give you some help in deciding what to write. And don’t forget, if you have something to share that fails to fit anywhere, there’s always our Sunday Surprise
So what do you think? Do you like surprises or will a vague structure help you get even more enjoyment from your Give A Brick experience?

Thanks for the encouragement Jen. My poor old brain really has been stewing over this off and on all day! I’m hoping it will make deciding what to write and when a lot less painful. This busy fortnight has resulted in a plethora of posts which arrived more by luck that good planning, something I’m keen to change

I dig it Eleanor. You just keep on impressing me. How do you fit so many great ideas in that brain of yours? I guess they don’t…they’re overflowing and spreading across the nets.

These ideas seem to just keep popping in my head. I always said that Give A Brick was a God-given idea. Maybe He’s just honouring that and doing His bit to see His idea get noticed? I don’t really know but it’s all good fun. I could do with an extra few hours in the day though (or a Harry Potter style time-turner
I always love a good plan
. Sounds great to me, although reading all this and thinking of you having to write all that is just making me tired! I’ll have to send you lots of energy and inspiring thoughts to be sure you keep it going!
Yours,
Megan

Thanks Megan. Feel free to send over all the good stuff you like
The benefit of this plan is that I can see which days should be lighter to put together and have organised it such that those posts requiring more research are spaced out evenly. Specifically, I anticipate Monday and Thursday posts will take longer to write but at least this way should help me plan better. It’s something I’ve learned from Carlos’ challenge. I didn’t quite get it all together at the time but this plan is thanks to what I learned earlier this month.

Good job giving your days some focus. That should help you post as well, you can write for the category that has less posts ready and know just when it will post.

I feel honoured tonight. This post was really meant to just be a quick introduction to the new structure and all of a sudden I’m surrounded by lots of my new challenge buddies. What’s going on? Did you all secretly meet and plan to hang out over here tonight? If you’d have warned me I could have made a cake
Seriously though, thanks for taking the time to visit and I appreciate your encouragement
This sounds like a really good idea El. Can’t wait to see how it works out for you

Structure really helps long term.
When you get needing to write one kind of article, and want to write another kind of article, write what you want to write first, the article you’re supposed to write will follow along easily after that. And you get another article in the can.

Great advice. Thanks Dave. Whilst I’ve today deviated from the plan a little, I can see the value in keeping these as themes. Should be a good help in organising things
